Ward Christmas Party

I have been looking forward to the Ward Christmas Party for awhile and it did not disappoint.
It was ABSOLUTELY wonderful!
First we got to see Santa and the kids were so excited even though Noah has been told by us that it isn't real- it is a way for people to give gifts anonymously.
It was funny to hear Amalie tell Santa she wanted a Robot for Christmas. That was certainly news to me and then later she was frustrated because she was waiting for Santa to bring her the robot at the party. Sooo funny! I love all the misunderstandings at this age- they always make for a good laugh! She continued to talk to Santa as though there weren't a Loooong line with twenty other kids waiting! Noah told Santa he wanted Legos and little Gabe didn't ask for anything! I was proud of how content he is.
We had a Delicious dinner and then a beautiful program, with a nativity play. The music was so inspiring and so beautiful and there was a darling family who played Mary and Joseph with their infant. The children were also able to participate and sing in the program with the rest of the primary children. I was so grateful to get into the Christmas spirit- as it has been a little more than hard since we are in Survival mode.
Amalie sat on my lap as we watched the performers. There were fresh flowers on the table and she was playing with them and asking if she could have them- I said "Yes." A woman in our ward who used to be in the Mormon Tabernacle Choir sang a beautiful rendition of "O Holy Night" and Amalie loved it. She wanted to run right up and give her a flower- she was really sad when I told her we needed to wait until she came down from the stage. Afterward, Amalie was looking for her and presented the flower. The last song we sang was "Silent Night" and a man in our ward played the guitar as an accompaniment- Amalie also loved that and ran right up to him afterward and presented him with a flower. It was so cute to see her enjoy their talents and want to give them something. She is certainly not shy!
Another sweet moment came when an older man from our ward, Dan, pushed through the crowd in his wheelchair and asked me where my boy was. I found Noah and Dan proceeded to give Noah a big bag of candy- Noah thanked him and then didn't know what to say. It was sweet because Dan had a head injury when he was a teenager-many years ago and is impaired and yet he and Noah have formed a friendship. A very tender moment.
Love, love, love this season!

Keep that friendship going Kate.
It's a blessing for both parties.
Your Santa looks great!
